Emer Heavey MA UKCP PG Dip DMT
Born in Ireland in 1962, my background is in various forms of bodywork. I qualified as a Dance Movement Therapist (PG Dip DMT) in 1992, and also practiced Therapeutic Massage (ITEC, Dip Arom). As well as having a private practice and facilitating groups for over thirty years, I worked for five years for a Bristol based charity, supporting the families of children with life-threatening illnesses, and in a residential setting, with women recovering from drug and alcohol dependency.
This led to my interest in psychotherapy, and an MA in Core Process Psychotherapy in 2003. I am UKCP registered and also offer supervision. I am qualified in Mindfulness based Supervision OPAL.
I have done additional training in Somatic Experiencing, Trauma and Dissociation, Trauma and Attachment Disorders and Trauma and Sexual Abuse. I am a certified EMI practitioner. I was a student of the Ridhwan School for fifteen years. I have run on-going groups and workshops internationally for many years, and currently run on-going weekend groups in Essential Movement.
I am committed to my own journey of healing and creativity. This is supported by my life in the countryside with my husband, a sense of humour and a love of dance and painting.
